What is UGC NET?

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national-level examination conducted by NTA on behalf of UGC. It determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for:

• Award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and appointment as Assistant Professor
• Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.
• Admission to Ph.D. only

• Online Application Start Date: 29 April 2026
• Last Date to Submit Application Form: 20 May 2026 (upto 11:50 PM)
• Last Date for Fee Payment: 20 May 2026 (upto 11:50 PM)

Exam Mode and Number of Subjects

• General-EWS / OBC-NCL: Rs. 600/-
